SAN JOSE — Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Western Conference semifinals between the San Jose Sharks and the Detroit Red Wings will start at 6 p.m. Thursday from HP Pavilion.
The Red Wings needed seven games to dispatch the Phoenix Coyotes in their first-round series, while the Sharks have been resting since Saturday after eliminating the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6.
The Sharks held a 1-2-1 record against the Red Wings during the regular season.
The last time the two teams met in the playoffs was 2007, when Detroit knocked the Sharks out in the second round.
