The doors at the Community and Cultural Center will be hard to break on through to the other side – 15 wood exterior doors have been replaced with galvanized steel.
The project cost the city $58,875 and was under budget by about $2,000. They had to be replaced because the original painted-wood doors were warping and did not close properly, compromising the security system. The community center opened in December 2002.
“In the course of the design process, it was determined that the wood doors were good, but it was not such a great decision (after all),” City Manager Ed Tewes said.
The Morgan Hill City Council will accept the project as complete at Wednesday’s council meeting at 7 p.m.
