SEMIPRO FOOTBALL: ’Stormers win 22-21 to climb above .500

Regular-season finale today for local teams
LOHS (5-4, 3-3) at Leland (6-3, 4-2), 7 p.m.

It’s not that the Acorns don’t like Leland. They’re just tired of watching Mike Carrozzo’s Chargers come away with close wins over them year after year.

Two great games in 2008-09; two tough losses. Today, Live Oak can get the Leland monkey off their back and put to rest any playoff worries when the two teams meet in an evenly-matched Mount Hamilton Division finale at Pat Tillman Stadium.

With a win, Live Oak can solidify both a postseason berth and a decent seed in Division III.

SHS (5-4, 3-3) at Westmont (5-4, 3-3), 7 p.m.

Considering how deep the Santa Teresa Division was this fall, a fourth-place finish sounds like a decent accomplishment.

That is at stake today when Sobrato and Westmont square off at 7 p.m. in Campbell. The Bulldogs can also give one last shot in the arm to their postseason chances and secure a third winning season.

The Central Coast Section playoff brackets will be announced Saturday.
