Make-up away games rescheduled
SAN JOSE — Friday’s Mount Hamilton Division baseball games between Live Oak and Santa Teresa and Sobrato and Leland were postponed because of heavy rain in San Jose.

The Acorns traveled to Santa Teresa for a make-up game Monday (results were late by press time). The Bulldogs and Chargers will try to play again March 22.

Local teams drop league matches

The Acorns lost 4-3 Thursday to Yerba Buena in an early-season match that could weigh heavily in the West Valley Division title race.

The visiting Aztec Warriors (2-0 league) brought an imposingly large roster to Live Oak High School and swept doubles play.

Ryan Campbell, Dylan Johnson and Bryan Freitas provided singles win for the Acorns (1-1).

Also Thursday, Sobrato dropped its Santa Teresa Division opener 5-2 to visiting Prospect.

SWIMMING

Lady Acorns split first division dual meet

Michelle Mikaelsson took part in three first-place finishes Thursday as the Lady Acorns beat Leigh 100-82 and lost to Santa Teresa 113-69 in their Mount Hamilton Division dual-meet opener at LOHS.

Mikaelsson touched first in the 100-yard breaststoke in one minute, 12.53 seconds after winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.34 and swimming the third leg of a first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:57.31).

Her relaymates also won individual events. Seniors Sarah D’Angelo and Katie Rick respectively placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.08) and 200-yard individual medley (2:14.84), and junior anchor Rachel Cretcher triumphed in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.57).

On the boys side, the Acorns lost 103-73 to Leigh and 93-77 to Santa Teresa.

Live Oak freshman Ryan McCombs won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.14) and swam anchor in the winning 200-yard freestyle relay with Daniel Enriquez, Saul Orona and Danny Robinson.
