Jess Barron Perez died March 1, 2005, from a short illness at
the Oasis Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico, at the age of 67.
Jess Barron Perez died March 1, 2005, from a short illness at the Oasis Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico, at the age of 67.
Mr. Perez, a native of El Monte, had been a Santa Clara County resident living in Morgan Hill and Gilroy most of his life until he moved to Hollister in 1997. He was a graduate of Gilroy High School, was a veteran who served with the U.S. Navy, a member of the International Brotherhood Of Teamsters, San Jose local, the Knights Of Columbus and the Benevolent and Protective Order Of Elks of Gilroy.
He is survived by his spouse, Mauricia Perez; children Anita Torrez (husband John) and Vivian Gonzalez ( husband Ruben) both of Gilroy, Alexis Perez-Santiago (spouse Santos), Marrissa Nunez (spouse Fausto), Magali Sotelo, LeeRoy Sotelo, Felicia Perez, Natasha Perez, Michael Jess Perez, Jess Alex Perez, Gavin Fletcher, and Celeste Fletcher, all of Hollister; grandchildren Janae Torrez-Battle, Danielle Torrez, Cheryl Gonzalez, Michele Gonzalez, Chaylen Gonzalez, Allyssa Perez and Clarissa Nunez; siblings Eusebio Perez Jr., Marguerite Lopez and Lupe Sembera of Southern California, Manuel Perez, Jess A. Perez, Linda Sendejas, and John B. Perez of Gilroy; Rachel P. Sanchez of San Martin, Rudy B. Perez of Utah, Edward B. Perez of San Jose and Vivian A. Perez of Stockton.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation well be held from 3 to 5pm, Monday March 7, at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Friends are invited to assemble at 6pm Monday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2121 Sunnyslope Road, Hollister for funeral services that begin at 7pm.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday morning at the church for a ceremony beginning at 11am. Interment will follow at 2pm at San Joaquin National Cemetery, Santa Nella, with military honors.
The family asks that any onations be made to the San Benito County Child Protective Services, Attn.: Foster Care Program, or to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Scholarship Program c/o the mortuary.
