Support this first-of-its-kind initiative, in which Meals on Wheels organizations from seven Bay Area counties are partnering with restaurants from local communities to raise funds to feed the growing senior population in need of in-home nutrition services. Residents are encouraged to patronize the partnering restaurants Nov. 9, as they will donate a portion of their profits that day to the Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels fills in when home-bound elders have no other nutrition alternative. It provides essential life-line support to seniors when in-home care is delayed or stopped, transportation to the senior center is cut, helpful neighbors move away, or the cash-strapped hospital discharges them.
