A 17-year-old male suffered a punctured lung after he was stabbed at a bus stop in Morgan Hill Thursday morning.
Police detained two people shortly after the incident that happened about 8:10 a.m. near the VTA bus stop in south Morgan Hill, near the 15000 block of Monterey Highway, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.
The victim, a Morgan Hill teen who police did not identify, was stabbed once with a knife on his left side, Neumayer said. Police heard about the incident from Saint Louise Regional Hospital, who called 911 when the victim checked in for treatment about 8:30 a.m.
At press time, police had not booked any suspects in relation to the stabbing, and declined to release the names of those detained or their alleged role in the incident. Neumayer said as of Thursday afternoon police did not know the stabber or stabbers’ motive, and are “not ruling out” the possibility the incident was gang-related.
The investigation is ongoing, Neumayer said.
The victim was taken to the Gilroy hospital by a family member, Neumayer said. From there, hospital staff brought him to San Jose Regional Hospital where he remained as of Thursday afternoon with a punctured lung, Neumayer said. His wound is not life-threatening.
