All-Stars begin soon
MORGAN HILL — Morgan Hill Pony Baseball will crown its city champions Saturday after the American and National League playoffs conclude this week.
The Pinto Division championship round was finalized last weekend, but there is still much to be decided in the Pony, Bronco and Mustang divisions.
One of the Pony finalists will be announced today, as the Rockies and Blue Jays square off in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The loser will play the winner of Monday’s elimination game between the Athletics and Yankees (results were late by press time) Thursday.
Also today, the 11-team double-elimination Bronco tournament resumes with a 5:30 p.m. semifinal between the Blue Jays and Nationals at Britton Middle School. The loser has a day to prepare for an elimination game Wednesday. Its opponent will be the Giants or Rockies, or Red Sox or Athletics; those four played Monday in the loser’s bracket.
The Mustang Division yielded its American League winner late Monday. The National League title will be decided at 5:30 p.m. today.
The AL champion Athletics and NL champion Diamondbacks will play for in the Pinto championship.
All-Stars: Postseason play begins next week, as two Morgan Hill Pinto teams play in a sectional held June 24 to July 1 at Blossom Valley. Two more MHPB Pinto squads will host a tournament July 3-10. The sectional winners will advance to the Pinto World Series, which is scheduled to take place July 14-18 in San Jose.
Morgan Hill will host two Mustang All-Star tournaments July 10-17.
The Bronco All-Stars will be held in late July.
