The Red Phone sounds off Saturday in The Times.
We invite you to call us 24/7 to ask questions, report a complaint, give us a tip, offer an amusing tale of the short variety or just want people to know about something to do with Morgan Hill and the surrounding territory. We’ll check it out and have the answer in an upcoming column.
Leave us a message on the Red Phone. We won’t print your name or share it with others. However, we do need your name and phone number for verification purposes.
HIDDEN MOVIES:
Some calls to the Red Phone are directed at the newspaper itself.
One man said he missed the movie schedules that used to run and where are they?
Well, we wondered ourselves.
Executive Editor Walt Glines explained that the paid avertisement listing show times and movies at the newly remodeled Cinelux theater complex in the Tennant Station shopping center continues to be published in Saturday’s Food and Family section of The Times.
At present, we’re no longer running a page full of movie reviews.
However, in the not-too-distant future, we’re planning to resume publishing more movie reviews each Saturday as well as asking readers to rate the movies.
We’ll then share what you think with other readers.
BAD BIKE BEHAVIOR:
Here’s one from a resident worried about running down some of Morgan Hill’s best and “brightest?”
When I was returning from lunch a contingent of bicyclists from Specialized Bicycle was ahead of me. They sailed through the intersection at Watsonville Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard without pausing at all. This is a four-way stop.
When I learned my bike rules I was told that bikes are supposed to follow the same rules about stop signs as autos.
They’re putting themselves and others in danger – besides being a terrible example to kids – while wearing their shirts emblazoned with Specialized Bicycle. Does Specialized Bicycle condone this behavior?
I had actually considered writing a letter to the editor about this because I was experiencing so much road rage over it but I think the Red Phone could be the ideal place for me to vent. I feel better already! Thanks!
Well, as a person with many bicycling miles under the belt, I can just hear what my father would say if he saw me run a stop sign.
Carmen Livorsi, public relations manager for Specialized, said the company definitely doesn’t condone breaking traffic laws – “not to mention the safety issue.” She apologized for any inconvenience to the resident who saw the incident and said Specialized’s owner would be sending an e-mail to all employees asking them to pay closer attention to rules of the road.
