8-feet-high graffiti scrawled all over Cochrane shopping center

A north Morgan Hill shopping center suffered costly damage to a graffiti spree over the weekend, police said.
Sometime Friday night a suspect or suspects tagged numerous buildings at the Cochrane Commons shopping center, on the northeast side of the U.S. 101 interchange with Cochrane Road, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Troy Hoefling.
Specifically, at least two large retail and restaurant buildings closest to Cochrane Road within the center were tagged with spray-painted black and red lettering reaching up to 8 feet high.
None of the graffiti appeared to be gang-related, Hoefling said.
Officers finished documenting the vandalism by Saturday evening, Hoefling added.
The property damage inflicted by the tagger or taggers will likely reach “several thousands of dollars’ worth,” he said.
No suspects have been identified in relation to the graffiti spree.
On Tuesday morning, a painting crew was at the shopping center painting over the tags.
“Our typical response time is immediate,” said the shopping center’s property manager, who did not want his name to appear in print.
The property manager said the owner of the property will likely end up absorbing all the costs of covering up and repairing the vandalism. Insurance coverage is unlikely to pay for any of the damages.
