Morgan Hill Police did not make any arrests on suspicion of DUI at a Friday night checkpoint just north of the downtown area, but officers contacted more than 200 drivers, according to Capt. Shane Palsgrove.
The DUI and license checkpoint was conducted on Monterey Road at the intersection of Old Monterey Road.
Although no drivers were suspected of driving under the influence, officers issued eight citations for unlicensed drivers, Palsgrove said.
Officers also issued one citation for a driver with a suspended license, and that motorist’s vehicle was impounded, police said.
Palsgrove added 467 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and 243 of those drivers were contacted by police. Of those contacted, 12 were screened at a “secondary” staging area.
The purpose of the checkpoint was to ensure safety on the roads, and to educate drivers about the dangers of impaired driving, police said.
