ROSEVILLE — The Orchard Valley Chaos 13U girls won the Gold Division in the Placer United Prestige Cup Soccer Tournament in Roseville in late October.

This was the first tournament championship ever for the girls.

Their title run began with a hard-fought 1-1 tie against the Stockton Storm. In the afternoon, Chaos beat a solid Mountain View/Los Altos team 1-0.

Orchard Valley needed a win the following morning to reach the title match, played that afternoon. The girls prevailed, winning 2-1 over a previously unbeaten Concord Diablo FC club.

In the championship game, the Chaos defeated the Mill Valley Rockers 4-2 in exciting fashion. The Chaos’ C.C. Contreras started the scoring on a penalty kick in the opening two minutes. The next two goals came off of corner kicks from Alexandra Osborn to Isabella Apolinar. The play was designed by coach John Slattery. The final goal was set up by a nice cross pass from Apolinar to Claire Toy, who fed Sandra Ceja for the score.

Orchard Valley’s stout defense, led by goalkeeper Alejandra Aceves, and the efforts of Rhiannon Holmes, Alexi Slattery, Tayler Silacci, Alissa Pham, Alexandra Osborn and Madison Bohn held the opposition to four goals during the weekend.

The offense, headed by Contreras, Tamlin Vereyken, Brianna Begivengo, Mikayla Irvin, Apolinar, Ceja and Toy put a lot of pressure on the opposing teams the entire tournament. Injured player Taylor Dempsey was there in spirit.
