The Santa Clara Valley Water District board selected a new chair and vice chair Tuesday. Linda LeZotte and Patrick Kwok respectively, will serve in those positions for 2012.
LeZotte, the District 4 representative who serves the city of Campbell and areas of San Jose, is an attorney of 30 years and former member of the San Jose City Council. She was elected to the board of directors in November 2010. LeZotte was also the 2011 vice chair.
Kwok of District 5, was elected in 2007 on the district’s water board to fill a vacancy. He is a former Cupertino city council member and mayor. His newly redistricted area includes parts of Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara and San Jose.
LeZotte will replace former chair, Don Gage, who participated in 289 meetings and 44 board of directors meetings, according to District Chief Executive Officer Beau Goldie in a press release.
The Santa Clara Valley Water District board of directors are made up of seven members representing each district and each serve an overlapping four-year term.
SCVWD employees 697 people and has a budget of $312.6 million for fiscal year 2011-12.
