Bob Dolci, Director of Single Services for EHC LifeBuilders, will speak on “Homelessness in South County” Tuesday, March 15, 7:30pm at the Morgan Hill United Methodist Church (MHUMC), 17175 Monterey Road.

He will describe the number and types of people in the Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy areas who are homeless. Based on his experience, he will share the various life experiences that result in individuals, single parents with children, and families losing their homes without the financial resources to acquire another place to live.

Dolci will highlight available services, but also explore how the community could help homeless people reestablish themselves.

“The armories that provide shelter at night during the coldest months close at the end of March,” said Lynn Morgan, a member of the MHUMC Women’s Group that is sponsoring the event. “In addition, a study was recently released that counted homeless people in Santa Clara County. Now is a perfect time to look at what can be done to help our neighbors through a difficult time.”

“We invite members of the community and other churches to join us on March 15,” said Ted Pecot, pastor of the Morgan Hill United Methodist Church. “Our church members have been feeding the homeless at the armory two or three nights a month during the winter for several years.

“Other churches and groups provide dinners on other nights. People in this community have already demonstrated their willingness to reach out to the homeless and address their immediate needs. Now, let us expand our vision and look for more permanent solutions.”

EHC LifeBuilders is the largest provider of shelter, housing opportunities and supportive services to people in crisis and those experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara County.
