Tammie Medeiros with Sycamore Creek Vineyards pours wine for Guerin Provini during the 2007 South Valley Wine Auction at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center.

The 18th annual South Valley Wine Auction and Food Fest returns to the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, from 6 to 10 p.m. April 1 for a special evening that benefits local athletics.
Guests, age 18 and older, are invited to come out and sample gourmet food and wine (for those 21 and older) from more than 20 Morgan Hill area restaurants and local wineries, while bidding on an extensive array of silent auction items. Keys to unlock the refrigerated “vault,” loaded with dozens of bottles of fine wines, will be for sale as well.
Proceeds raised go to local booster clubs to support athletic programs and fund scholarships given to senior athletes at Live Oak and Sobrato High Schools.
The night is topped off with the exciting live auction featuring a variety of items for fine dining, getaways, jewelry, sports items and, of course, wine. Returning for her 12th year as host will be 94.5 FM KBAY’s Jona Denz-Hamilton, who will team up with auctioneer Mark Turner.
“As a longtime volunteer for SVWA, I’m humbled and impressed with the coordination, cooperation, commitment, generosity and loyalty of so many volunteers, donors, sponsors, restaurateurs and wineries,” said Eva Musgrove, restaurant committee member. “I love helping and giving back to our community’s student athletes.”
Musgrove started volunteering in 2006 with Live Oak High School’s former cross country and track coach, Dean Raymond, after he instituted a scholarship in her son’s name.
“The annual Chris Quezada Cross Country and Track Memorial scholarship sends youth the message that you can be a scholar and an athlete with good character at the same time, and you can be recognized for it. How awesome is that?,” Musgrove added.
