Ashley Pipkin set the bar high for Sobrato FFA this year at the Santa Clara County fair. With this being the last year for Pipkin to show in FFA, she made a memorable year taking home a belt buckle for Grand Champion Market Swine, First Place Advanced swine showmanship and First Place Advanced Sheep Showmanship, allowing her to advance to Round Robin Showmanship. She was followed by senior Kristin Wallash who placed First in Novice Steer Showmanship allowing her to advance to Novice Round Robin Showmanship. Freshman Jessica Post took First in Swine Showmanship and won Novice Round Robin Showmanship.
Sobrato FFA members dominated in swine showmanship with the following members securing the top eight positions in novice: Jessica Post, McKenna Miles, Hayley Ryman, Ashley Tercero, Geoff Elliot, Joey Cassiba, Christina Cefalu and Morgan Rowe. Post also went on to place Second in Advanced Swine Showmanship followed by fellow FFA member Kyle Benson.
Sobrato FFA members also did well in lamb showmanship securing third and fourth in novice showmanship with Nicole Kiles and Ashley Tercero, along with Pipkin in advanced showmanship Christina Cefalu placed high in her class of advanced sheep showmanship.
Kristin Wallash secured Third in Novice Steer Showmanship.
Sobrato FFA also dominated in Rabbit Showmanship with Amy McBirney winning Advanced Rabbit Showmanship and best of breed. Niamh Haller took First in Novice Showmanship and went on to place Third in Advanced Showmanship. Taylor Burback won the FFA Market Grand and Reserve Champion titles. Geoff Elliot took the first four positions with his rabbits in breed as well.
All of Sobrato did well with the following students competing in market and showmanship classes; Felipe Villamares (sheep), Jamie Keck (goat), Natasha Harried (swine), Lyza Harried (sheep), Tracey Salvador (swine), Caitlyn Ryman (swine), Kara Newman (swine), Bryan Gomes (sheep and swine), Nick Williams (swine), Kathleen Bello (steer), Briana Wallash (steer) and Sarah Martin( steer).
