The Live Oak girls basketball team just won’t go away.
The Acorns are on the bubble to qualify for the playoffs, needing to finish .500 in league play to have the chance to move on.
And with their backs against the wall, Grace Smith and Cameron O’Connell came through with a big 66-54 win over Leland.
Live Oak followed that up with a 54-39 win over Oak Grove.

Smith had a career high 34 points, topping her previous best 20 points, which she scored on Dec. 22 against Pajaro Valley this season.
O’Connell followed with 18 points, also a career high.
Smith added a team-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore Madison Sharble followed with 11.
Live Oak opened the contest well, but trailed 14-13 going into the second quarter.
That’s when Live Oak turned things up defensively and started to pull away.
Leland was held to nine points as the Acorns went up 25-23.
The second half, Live Oak went off offensively, scoring 41 points in the frame, starting with 16 in the third and a monstrous 25 in the fourth quarter.
Smith followed up her 34-point performance with a 26-point night against the Eagles.
O’Connell followed up her night with a 17-point performance.
Live Oak will close out the regular season hosting rivals Sobrato Friday night.
