MORGAN HILL — Live Oak’s torrid second half wasn’t enough to put away Independence.

The 76ers parlayed a 20-point halftime lead into a 49-34 victory over the Lady Acorns in Live Oak Gym on Thursday.

The Acorns, who fell to 1-18 overall and 1-9 in Blossom Valley Athletic League-West Valley Division play, outscored Independence 26-21 in the final 16 minutes.

Sarah Mesa paced Live Oak with 10 points, and Ariana Guerrero finished with six. Jackie Pfaendler and Kala Kyle added five apiece for the Acorns.

Janelie Bonifacio, whose 3-pointer at the horn beat Live Oak in last year’s regular-season finale, scored a game-high 15 points for Independence (17-6, 8-2).

The Acorns will continue a three-home home stretch Tuesday against Pioneer.
