Cruelty to animals
-An unknown suspect(s) shot a dog on a residence in the 300 block of San Bruno Avenue in Morgan Hill Feb. 25 and remains at large with charges of cruelty to animals. The dog is alive and is being cared for by a veterinarian.
Burglary/theft
-Joseph Lujan, 45, and James William Lyons, 45, were arrested on the 1500 block of Sycamore Avenue in Morgan Hill for charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit burglary. The suspects were stopped after committing the burglary and placing the stolen property in their vehicle. They were booked into the Main Santa Clara County Jail Feb. 18.
-An unknown suspect remains at large after a report of grand theft on the 1500 block of Day Road in Gilroy between the evening of Feb. 24 and afternoon of Feb. 27. The assailant entered the property on two separate occasions and stole various farm items worth an estimated $2,050.
-Unknown suspects remain at large following a Feb. 26 report that approximately $1,900 worth of landscaping equipment, including power tools, was stolen from a truck bed parked at a residence on the 600 block of San Bruno Avenue in Morgan Hill. The equipment was not locked inside the vehicle.
-An unknown suspect remains at large after a committing burglary and vehicle theft by breaking into a garage on the 3800 block of Canada Road in Gilroy, taking power tools, bicycles, an ATV and motorcycles with a total worth of $10,800, between Feb. 19 and Feb. 23.
-An unknown suspect committed vehicle theft sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Feb. 22 when the assailant opened the gate of a residence on the 8100 block of Burchell Road and took a tractor from the driveway. The incident was reported later that night.
-An unknown suspect committed burglary Feb. 20 when an assailant entered a RV through an unlocked window on the 1200 block of Bloomfield Avenue in Gilroy and stole a firearm and approximately $2,030 of total property.
-A Santa Clara County Sheriff recovered a stolen vehicle on Bailey Avenue at Santa Teresa Boulevard in Morgan Hill on Feb. 21 when he observed a vehicle parked partially in a field with no rear license plate. The vehicle had two flat tires on the passenger side and the dashboard was torn apart. The vehicle was confirmed stolen by the San Jose Police Department.
-A stolen vehicle was recovered at Sycamore and San Martin avenues in San Martin Feb. 21. The vehicle was unoccupied and subsequently towed from the parking lot of a liquor store.
Identity theft
-An unknown suspect remains at large after committing identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card Feb. 21 at a shopping center on the 500 block of Denio Avenue in Gilroy when a credit card was used to purchase a gift card worth $1,004.99. Personal identification was used to complete the online transaction. This incident was reported Feb. 26.
-A unknown suspect faces charges of unauthorized use of an access card after the victim was informed that $1,540.60 was withdrawn from their account from an ATM in Mexico Feb. 7. The victim was in Mexico at the time.
Probation violations
-Alberto Cruz Diaz, 20, was arrested at a private resident for a probation violation on the 8800 block of Fuchsia Court at Mantelli Drive in Gilroy between Feb. 18 and Feb. 25. Cruz Diaz was serving his jail sentence in a custody alternative program in lieu of incarceration when he failed to appear to the program and was arrested.
Drugs
-Christopher Chavez, 19, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription pills after he was stopped at Monterey Street at Las Animas Avenue in Gilroy Feb. 24, where he admitted to officers that he had the substances in his vehicle.
-Crystal Rae Barajas, 42, was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance Feb. 24 at the Gilroy Transit Center on 8th Street and Monterey Road. The suspect had an open container of alcohol, was constantly fidgeting and unable to stand still when approached by officers.
-Yvette Marie Castillo, 30, was arrested on Feb. 23 at a park on the corner of First and Carmel streets in Gilroy for a parole violation, providing false identification to a peace officer and under the influence of a controlled substance. Castillo provided a false name to officers, was found to have a glass methamphetamine pipe hidden in her pants and admitted purposely lying about her name to avoid being searched.
-Mario Roberto Munoz, 29, was on parole hold and charged with being under the influence of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia Feb. 21. Munoz was riding a bicycle without a light at night on First Street in Gilroy when he was stopped by officers. He was “extremely nervous and spoke with rapid speech” when he informed officers he was on parole. A search of his backpack turned up a glass pipe with a bulbous end on it commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.
-Patrick Nicholas Behan, 21, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license when he was stopped for having no front license plate by officers on Hale and Palm avenues in Morgan Hill. The suspect was ticketed one day earlier by the CHP for driving on a suspended license. A search of vehicle turned up a glass pipe with white and black residue in the center console.
-Jose Manuel Yniguez, 33, was charged with possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of marijuana/concentrated Cannabis Feb. 20 after a search was conducted by officers on FIRST Street at Kern Avenue in Gilroy. The officer located two bags of methamphetamine, a digital scale, a pay-owe sheet, $260 in cash, text messages indicating drug sales, a meth pipe, one bag of concentrated cannabis and two bags of marijuana.
-Martin Sanchez, 43, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and under the influence of a controlled substance on Feb. 12 at Chestnut Avenue at 10th Street in Gilroy. Officers stopped Sanchez’s Ford F150 pickup truck and in a subsequent search found a folded $2 bill with a white powdery/crystalline substance inside, which he said was “crystal” and admitted to snorting approximately 45 minutes prior to the stop.
-Denny Paul Holderfield, 48, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and providing a false name to a peace officer Feb. 14 at Monterey Road at Rucker Avenue in Gilroy. Holderfield was in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle stopped for speeding when he gave a false name and was removed from the vehicle when a clear plastic bag containing a white substance fell onto the ground.
-Officers found 24.5 grams of marijuana in the trunk of a vehicle that was brought to the Copart Auto dismantling yard Feb. 15 on the 13000 block of Llagas Avenue at Depot Street in San Martin. The marijuana was placed into the evidence room as found property.
-Gabriel Lee Lopez, 49, was charged with a parole violation, possession of Methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia when he was stopped Feb. 17 at Monterey Highway at Travel Park Circle in Gilroy. Officers located a glass pipe with a burnt bulbous end and a plastic baggie containing a white crystalline substance in Lopez’s right front pocket.
-Paul Joseph Lumbard, 46, was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and a probation violation Feb. 17 at Travel Park Circle at Monterey Road in Gilroy.
-Sheila Marie Olvera, 44, was charged with a parole violation and being under the influence of a controlled substance at Travel Park Circle at Monterey Highway in Gilroy Feb. 17.
Vandalism
-A Feb. 21 report of vandalism on the Grass Farm at the 600 block of Palm Avenue at Dougherty Avenue in Morgan Hill was filed to the Sheriff’s Office. An unknown suspect drove his vehicle onto the property and damaged the grass estimated at $12,000.
Providing false information to a peace officer
-Daniel Nieblas, 59, also known as Anthony Mitchell, was a parole hold charged with providing false information to an officer after a high risk car stop on a reported stolen vehicle at Tennant Avenue at Butterfield Boulevard in Morgan Hill Feb. 19. Deputies determined the driver was in fact the registered owner, but the parolee was a passenger in the vehicle.
Carrying a concealed weapon
-Rafael Betancourt, 25, was charged with carrying a concealed dirk/dagger on Monterey Highway at Welburn Avenue in Gilroy Feb. 11. As the officer made contact with Betancourt, he dropped a four-inch fixed blade knife that he was concealing in his jacket.
Failure to register as a sex offender
-Sheriffs issued an arrest warrant Feb. 13 on James Carl Smith, 40, for failure to update registration as a sex offender upon moving after a search of his prior residence on the 2800 block of Tohara Way in Morgan Hill proved he had moved out on Jan. 1.
Public intoxication
-Rodolfo Casaneda Lara, 37, was charged with public intoxication Feb. 14 outside of a residence on the 19000 block of Freeway Vista in Morgan Hill.
