Winter Series and to raise funds for the park
GILROY — More than 120 Bay Area mountain bikers showed up at Henry Coe State Park on March 27 to compete in Round 3 of the SB Racing Winter Series and to raise funds for the park.
The USA Cycling-sanctioned event was broken up into three categories and nine age classes.
Morgan Hill’s Ted Thomas placed first overall in the 1 1/2-lap beginner’s category, covering the rugged 6 1/2-mile course in one hour, 35:56 minutes. He also won the men’s 20-29 class.
Jennifer Grifall, another Category 3 racer from Morgan Hill, won the women’s 35-plus class in 2:08:37.
The series’ fourth and final round is scheduled to take place May 8 at Santa Teresa Park in San Jose.
