Dozens of local residents, veterans and their families gathered May 29 in downtown Morgan Hill to remember those who died in combat serving their country. The annual Memorial Day ceremony, organized by Morgan Hill resident and Vietnam veteran Eddie Bowers, took place in front of the First Street Veterans Memorial. A block of Monterey Road in downtown was shut down to vehicle traffic to allow people to take part in the ceremony, which included the raising of an American flag, the playing of “Taps” and a reading of the names of local residents who died in combat.
