GILROY – Toto’s Stingers needed overtime to stop Rocha’s Drywall 44-43 in the Men’s DD League second-half adult basketball opener for both squads Wednesday at Solorsano Gymnasium.
John Hernandez hit one basket and Henry Huerta canned four free throws in the decisive three-minute overtime for Toto’s.
Warren Gaspar anchored the Toto’s Stingers offense with 12 points. Dean Friend provided nine points. Brice Hall poured in 14 points for Rocha’s Drywall.
Flash outlasted Gilroy Young Plants 59-51 in DD play. Asa Saito hustled to 19 points, Charles Nguyen 14 and Steve Connor 10 for Flash, the first-half DDD champion. Manny Burns deposited 13 points, Ed Saunders netted 12, Joe Sutter went inside for 11 and Joel Goldsmith provided 10 for Gilroy Young Plants.
The Eagles began the DDD second half with a 64-28 victory over Handmade Healthcare. Jesus Perez keyed the Eagles offense with 19 points. Jesus Reyes followed with 16, Daniel Fauss 12 for the winners. Brit Bigelow carried the Handmade attack with 12 points.
GC Farms earned a forfeit win over Corde Ball’n.
Blair Wortham, Sig Reynisson and Joe Wortham each scored 13 points to lead Morgan Hill Garage Door past New Hope Community Church 49-40 in the Men’ D second-half opener Tuesday at Solorsano. Chris Soto made 10 points for New Hope, the first-half DD champion.
Mark Cisneros scored 20 points to spur Pizza N’ Stuff to an 80-34 nod over CordeValle. Juan Rios came up with 18 points, Josh Ehle 16, Miguel Gillard 13 and Jose Mendoza 12 for the winners. Danny Crowe netted 10 points for CordeValle.
