Police received the puppy, which was about 17 days old and appeared to be a yellow lab or golden retriever, on Dec. 8, according to the statement. The citizen found the dog inside a bag in the area of Mission Vineyard Road.
As he passed the bag, he noticed it moving and stopped to check it, according to police. The man found the puppy and brought it to the animal shelter in Hollister. It’s unknown if the puppy was placed on the side of the road or thrown from a vehicle, according to police.
The puppy was checked and determined to be in good health, and it has been placed temporarily in a local animal foster home, according to the statement.
