GILROY—Nine South County football players are about to have an unforgettable summer.
Christopher’s Max Sanford and Alex Pacheco, Gilroy’s Patrick Hsu and Devin Nguyen, Live Oak’s Jonathan Freitas, Billy Bennett and Brandon Sorce as well as Ben Hagiperos and Joshua Maese from Sobrato were named to the 2015 South team Thursday for the 41st Annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All Star Game. The game will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Bennet, Frietas and Nguyen will suit up as linemen for the game. Hagiperos will play as a defensive end, Sorce at defensive back for the South. Hsu, Maese, Pacheco and Sanford are all expected to be wide receivers for this contest.
These nine players, along with 37 other standout seniors from around Santa Clara County, will be joined by two surprise San Francisco 49ers players who will show them the ropes of their stadium and participate as guest coaches for the game.
Eric Perry, the head coach of Pioneer High School in San Jose, will coach the South team. Jake Messina of Fremont High School will lead the North team.
