Accident

A juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital after a white Saturn collided into a utility pole in an Oct. 4 traffic accident at Sunnyside Avenue and Encino Drive. The accident was reported at 2:46pm. The vehicle flipped over after the collision, which resulted in damage to a utility pole and overhead power lines.

Vandalism

Someone slashed the tires on a Subaru that was parked at McDonald’s, 135 Cochrane Plaza. The incident was reported 3:29pm Oct. 4.

Petty theft

A Hispanic man in his late 20s ran out of Safeway, 235 Tennant Station Way, with a basket full of “high end” tequila, according to police reports. The suspect was picked up in front of the store by a motorist driving a lime green sedan. The theft was reported 6:27pm Oct. 4.

A Hispanic woman in her late 20s stole about $200 worth of crafting supplies, pen sets and jewelry from Hobby Lobby, 990 Cochrane Road. The crime was reported 6:56pm Oct. 7.

A Caucasian man in his late 30s with a shaved head stole two beers from 7-Eleven, 295 W. Main Ave. The theft was reported 7:08pm Oct. 7.

Theft

A suspect described as a Hispanic woman in her late 30s stole merchandise from TJ Maxx, 401 Vineyard Town Center. The crime was reported 4:29pm Oct. 5.

A Caucasian woman stole jewelry from Hobby Lobby, 990 Cochrane Road, according to police reports. The theft was reported 7:24pm Oct. 5.

A Hispanic man in his 40s stole two tents worth about $80 each from Walmart, 170 Cochrane Plaza. The suspect ditched the items as he fled the area in a black Ford Expedition. The crime was reported 11:54pm Oct. 8.

A shoplifter stole merchandise worth about $150 from Hobby Lobby, 990 Cochrane Road. The suspect left the store property in a black Nissan Maxima. The crime was reported 5:28pm Oct. 9.

Stolen vehicle

A thief or thieves stole a white 2018 Chrysler 300 from a spot on West Main Avenue. The theft was reported 8:58am Oct. 6.

Someone stole a teal Honda Civic from a spot on the 18500 block of Butterfield Boulevard. The theft was reported 9:13am Oct. 6.

A gold 1995 Honda Accord was stolen from a spot on the 200 block of West Dunne Avenue. The theft was reported 11:16pm Oct. 6.

A thief or thieves stole a gold 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser from a spot on the 17800 block of Monterey Road. The vehicle was later recovered from a location in San Jose. The theft was reported in Morgan Hill 8:03am Oct. 8.

Someone stole a cream 1969 Volkswagen Beetle from the Walmart parking lot, 170 Cochrane Plaza. The theft was reported 5:13am Oct. 9.

Auto burglary

A thief or thieves broke into a 2012 Chevrolet Impala parked on the 200 block of West Dunne Avenue and stole a Playstation and Xbox video game system. The burglary was reported 12:52am Oct. 7.

Someone broke into a city truck that was parked outside the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Main Ave. Unspecified items were stolen from the vehicle. The crime was reported 8:55am Oct. 7.

A suspect smashed the rear window of a Volkswagen Passat on the 15700 block of Monterey Road, and stole a school backpack from the vehicle. The crime was reported 6:06pm Oct. 9.

Burglary

Someone burglarized a home on Lone Hill Drive and stole multiple unspecified items. The crime was reported 4:39pm Oct. 7.

Fraud

An unknown suspect cashed a check for $600 from the victim’s account at Bank of the West. The crime was reported 11:54am Oct. 9.

Animal control

City and county animal control officers assisted the owners of about half a dozen cows in retrieving the livestock after the animals broke free from their enclosure. The loose cows were reported at Llagas Creek and Sparhawk Drive, about 1:09pm Oct. 10.
