Other MHPD incidents
Defrauding an innkeeper

Five juveniles allegedly ran out of Denny’s restaurant after ordering meals and not paying. Two employees of the restaurant at 875 Cochrane Rd. ran after the customers, but were unable to catch up to them. The suspects, described as three females and two males, reportedly ran behind the nearby Courtyard Marriott hotel. The incident was reported about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Burglary
Someone stole a desktop computer from a classroom at Britton Middle School sometime in the last few days, police said. The person who reported the theft told police that the lock on the door leading to the classroom was taped to stay open, and a fence near the classroom outside the building was cut open. The crime was reported about 1:14 p.m. Jan. 23.

Two homes were reportedly burglarized Monday morning, according to police. The residents of the homes – one on 17200 block of Grand Prix Way and one on the 17700 block of Lancia Drive – reported returning home in the afternoon to find the homes had been invaded. Both victims think the thief or thieves entered the homes through bedroom windows. Police did not specify what kind of items were stolen from the homes.

Miscellaneous
Someone called police to report a pair of shoes hanging on a utility pole outside Central High School, 17690 Monterey Rd. The caller thought the shoes might be an advertisement that drug sales were available in the area, police said.
