Sheriff arrests
Marijuana
- David Perez, 21, of the 18600 block of Foothill Avenue, 2:30am, Aug. 4 at his address, for marijuana possession and on a warrant for a probation violation.
Domestic violence
- Estabin Sumano, 21, of the 2700 block of Ferguson Avenue, 12:20pm, Aug. 3 at his address, for domestic violence, false imprisonment, and on a warrant for trespassing.
Threats
- Joseph Anthony Duarte, 46, of the 1300 block of Buena Vista Avenue, 3:30pm, July 31 at his address, for criminal threats. Duarte allegedly came home drunk and threatened to hurt the victim. When the victim tried to leave, he followed them into the driveway with a handgun, Sheriff’s deputies said. Sixteen firearms were seized from his home.
Cocaine
- Martin Jeff Stephen Brown, 21, of the 14800 block of Llagas Avenue, 10:05pm, July 30 at 13305 Sycamore Ave., for possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine.
Controlled substances
- Luis Alberto Munoz, 26, of the 900 block of San Martin Avenue, 10:25pm, July 30 at 13305 Sycamore Ave., for being under the influence of a controlled substance and on a warrant for a parole violation.
Public intoxication
- Nicolas Santiago Martinez, 21, of Ferguson Avenue, 8:37pm, August 4 at the intersection of Ferguson Avenue and Crews Road, for public intoxication and giving false information to an officer.

Santiago Avendano Jimenez, 44, no address given, 3:30am, August 4 at the intersection of Monterey Highway and California Avenue, for public intoxication.
Vehicle tampering
- A juvenile girl was cited 2:45pm, August 1 for vehicle tampering and a probation violation. She allegedly wedged a key inside the ignition of a friend’s car, using a hammer. The girl was booked into juvenile hall.
Other Sheriff incidents
Found property
- A black handbag containing 7.1 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe was found 8:30pm, July 31 on Malaguerra Avenue in Morgan Hill. The bag did not contain an ID.
Animal cruelty
- A 61-year-old man on Lincoln Avenue shot a neighbor’s cat with an air rifle, lodging a large metal pellet in its front leg. The owner took the cat to the San Martin Veterinary Hospital, where the pellet was removed. The suspect has been identified and is at large.
