Our 1 1/2-year-old lab, Gunner, is a picky eater. He will eat a

Universal designs for the home

Designs, style, materials and colors have evolved through the years. I remember mustard yellow appliances, Formica counters, narrow hallways and the dark wood casings of homes built in the ’50s and ’60s. Most of us felt modern as we painted the wood trim white, brought in red and orange shag carpets, added acoustic ceilings and rain lamps into our space. The ’70s ushered in earthtones complimented with grass paper on our walls.

Churches provide meals to the community

Time to stand up for equal pay for women

The first concert I ever attended at the Shoreline amphitheater was memorable. I took my eldest daughter and three of her close pre-teen friends to see the Spice Girls. Not knowing what to expect, I didn’t bring a blanket to claim our little area of real estate to view the concert. As the five of us sat on the grass, we were surrounded by a sea of blankets occupied by screaming teen girls.

Hikers celebrate God in nature

It is not uncommon to hear people say something like: “I don’t need to go to church. I can worship God in nature on a sandy seashore or even a golf course.” Well, a group of Bay Area Christians have formed an organization that combines worship of God and appreciation of nature.

There’s more to that cute head tilt

Q: When our dog hears a funny noise, he tips his head sideways to listen. We think it's adorable, but why does he do this?
