Historic church holds grand opening
San Jose First United Methodist Church (24 N. Fifth St.) held an exciting event last month. Members, government officials and visitors attended a worship service marking the “grand opening” of the congregation's new building, which is located directly across from San Jose City Hall.
Mayor about to toot the horn of the future of the city – and for good reason
Smooth – and effective. Have to hand it to the Chamber of Commerce and the city for the foresight to “re-brand” the outdoor area at the Community and Cultural Center as the Downtown Amphitheater. It’s one of those brilliant brush strokes that not only enhances the perception of local residents, but spills over into the visitor arena. “Hey, how about we head to Morgan Hill for the Kihncert – it’s at the Downtown Amphitheater?” It sounds cool, it bundles the perception of the facility with downtown – as it should be – and a key element for success is that perception, and this is just the ticket.
Fruit-forward pinot noir
One unusual Friday night, with no plans on our calendar, my husband and I went to Sarah’s Vineyard for their Sunset Music Series. For $60 we enjoyed some of the finest pinot noir on the Central Coast, dinner and live music amidst an amazingly beautiful, 360-degree vista.
