4-H is more than just animals
The San Martin 4-H club celebrated a birthday last Saturday night. Peg and I were invited to their party to mark 65 years of youth activities. Most everyone knows about 4-H, but I’ll bet a lot of you don’t know about all the activities this organization has for its members. There’s a lot more than just working with farm animals at the County Fair.
Thoughts regarding the best inventions ‘since sliced bread’
There is great news for all of us. In a recent news release, I learned that the greatest invention “since sliced bread” has been announced. Well, it turned out to be a play on words. This invention was something that kept bread from turning moldy. Now that’s important to some, I guess. But does it qualify as one of the greatest inventions? I think not. Besides, I find that, if you eat the bread before it has a chance to get moldy, the problem is solved.
‘Barefoot In the Park’: A fun piece of theater
Based on Neil Simon's 1963 play that brings fun and comedy to a new area, “Barefoot In the Park” is an enjoyable comedy. It is easily digestible - especially with dinner the audience is encouraged to bring, along with wine and whatever else is desired. (But no lighted birthday candles or portable barbecues please, per city ordinances.)
Avoid poison oak for sake of everyone
Q: We got into a discussion the other day about hiking the hills with our dogs. There’s some poison oak on this trail we walk, so we try to avoid going to close to that area. Can our dogs get skin problems if they get into that stuff?
