Oakwood rebounded from a tough loss to York with a 43-35 victory at Anzar on Monday in Coastal Athletic League boys basketball.
Oakwood cooled off the surging Hawks from San Juan Bautista and kept alive hope of being named to the Central Coast Section playoffs for the first time Sunday.
The Oakwood Hawks (13-7) host Anchorpoint in their regular-season finale at 4 p.m. Thursday.
“As a coach, I could not be any prouder and happier for this group of wonderful young men. They play hard every minute of every game,” Oakwood coach Kort Jensen said in an email. “For being such a young team it is amazing what they have accomplished this season.”
John Angulo led the Oakwood Hawks with 13 points, four assists and three steals, while teammate Harsh Sikka highlighted a strong game with 10 points and eight rebounds. Brett Hall added nine points and five rebounds, and Justin Mortensen, Oakwood’s 6-foot, 7-inch freshman center, had five and eight and played great defense.
