First Things First in Upcoming Election
Dear Editor,
First I want to compliment Mayor Dennis Kennedy and the current city council for helping all of us to make Morgan Hill an excellent city to live, work, and play in. That was the promise they made to all of us.
Since I moved here nine years ago, I’ve been able to afford a home for me and my two children, serve on the Park and Recreation Commission to help build the Swim Center, Community Center and Centennial Recreation Center, and have a good time living here. Basically this council has built an infrastructure with our future in mind.
When I was on the Recreation Commission the basic weakness I saw is the lack of adequate maintenance and funding reserves for maintenance of older parks, streets, and infrastructure. I work for a developer and deal with reserving future monies for this purpose, and I can guarantee you that if you don’t maintain everything a city owns, the cost to repair or replace will be double the cost in the future.
The only candidate I see today that understands this fiscal responsibility is Alex Kennett. His background in business, and civic matters gives him the ability to fix this problem, It needs to be fixed as soon as possible, because in this area too much has been left to age. Some of our parks are barely usable and decreased maintenance leaves us all feeling a little neglected. Alex will bring common sense to the Council.
I urge all the voters of Morgan Hill vote for Alex Kennett for City Council. It’s time for change!!
Daniel J. Kenney, Morgan Hill
Thanks to LO High Seniors For Cleaning Up Creek
Dear Editor,
I served as the Coastal Cleanup Day coordinator for the Little Llagas Creek in Morgan Hill on Saturday, Sept. 16. About a dozen Live Oak High School students participated in this event, and I would like to heartily praise them in their excellent endeavor in collecting more than 100 pounds of trash from the creek. They were all well behaved and showed true enthusiasm for this important clean-up project that helps preserve Bay Area waterways and wildlife.
In no specific order (other than the order of the liability waiver forms they signed) the students were: Michelle Galione, Janet Lee, Roma Parhad, Raymond Levny, Thomas Trull, Sarah Pocus, Kyle Chak, Charleen Eliot, Hieuy Mac, Phillip Vony, Katerina Cinkova, and Rachelle Abbey.
I wish to thank these high school seniors for the great job they did cleaning the creek. They made my job very easy and a whole lot of fun. They all are a credit to the Morgan Hill community.
