Infant Injured, Father Sought
Morgan Hill – The Stockton Police Department, in conjuction with the Morgan Hill Police Department, is asking the public’s help in locating a suspect who has family in Morgan Hill and San Martin and who’s wanted for alleged child abuse of a 2-month-old girl listed in extremely critical condition at St. Joseph’s Medical Center’s emergency room in Stockton.
According to police sources, the infant, who’s on life support, received numerous injuries Tuesday afternoon that investigators believed were caused by her father. The suspect is identified as Diego Gallegos, 42. He’s described as being 5 foot seven inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s wanted for felony child abuse and was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue sweat pants, brown shoes and a white baseball cap.

Fruit Flies Surface in SCC
County officials have reported the first discovery of Oriental Fruit Flies in Santa Clara County. The first fly was found on Thursday, August 2, in Cupertino and the second fly was found on Monday, August 6, in west San Jose. The exotic insect pest, found throughout much of southern Asia, has been known to damage over 230 kinds of fruits and vegetables including citrus, stone fruits, pome fruits, avocado and tomato. Currently, the distribution of this pest in the United States is restricted to the Hawaiian Islands.Â
County offiicals began an eradication program Thursday that will involve targeting male flies with insecticides.
