Third baseman Justin Garrido gets an out at first base Tuesday.

The Morgan Hill Mustang B All-Star team let its first opportunity to snuff out longtime rival Blossom Valley for the West Zone section championship slip by Monday night. But the local bunch, which cruised into the title series of the double-elimination tournament undefeated, produced some early fireworks in the winner-take-all final Tuesday night at Britton Middle School, and exited as section champs with a 7-1 victory.

Offensive struggles from the previous evening were quickly cast aside as the Mustang bats came alive Tuesday. Buddy Nash sparked the boys in orange, clobbering a three-run home run to lift Morgan Hill into the lead – one it did not relinquish.

Morgan Hill delivered 10 hits to produce the seven runs. Pablo Causor contributed three big hits and Will Waxman had two, while Michael Corona, Justin Rashid, Alex Valdez and Colton Moorehead had one each.

Causor and Moorehead were again a virtually untouchable combo on the mound, giving up a combined four hits and two walks to Blossom Valley. With a sturdy defense roaming the infield and outfield, Morgan Hill made it tough for Blossom Valley to move runners across the plate, continually forcing the visitors to strand runners.

When the final out was scored, a jubilant team gave manager Dan Callison a Gatorade dunking and proudly raised the Tournament banner, bringing home another championship to Morgan Hill.
