Meet Morgan Hill police officers and firefighters and get an up-close view of the inside of a patrol cruiser (on your terms), fire engines and other public safety vehicles at the 2013 National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The National Night Out, dubbed “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” is a nationwide effort by public safety agencies to become more acquainted with the citizens they serve, according to a press release from MHPD.

The event takes place 6 to 8 p.m. on the Third Street Promenade in downtown Morgan Hill.

Local police, the SWAT team and the Morgan Hill Fire Department will be present, displaying their vehicles and equipment, according to MHPD. The Night Out also features an “old fashioned ice cream social,” face painting, games for children, prizes and giveaways.
