It’s Relay season.
Organizers for the 2017 Morgan Hill Relay For Life will host a season kickoff event from 6 to 8 p.m. March 10 at the Masonic Lodge on East Dunne at Peak Avenue.
All registered participants as well as those interested in partaking in this year’s event are welcome to attend, according to marketing coordinator Chris Nunez.
Mama Mia’s is catering the event, which will include live music and other activities for children.
“We’re looking to draw new people and get some more teams for Relay,” said Nunez, a cancer survivor closing in on five years.
The 2017 Morgan Hill Relay For Life is from 10 a.m. May 20 to 10 a.m. May 21 at Community Park (171 W. Edmundson Ave.)
The local Relay is part of the American Cancer Society’s biggest annual fundraiser. Teams camp out at the park overnight and participate in the 24-hour continuous walkathon honoring those who have battled cancer and their loved ones who supported them along their treacherous journey.
Twenty-four participating teams have already raised close to $9,500. Relay For Life organizers’ goal is to raise $88,000 by the event’s conclusion.
