Morgan Hill – A Morgan Hill man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision north of Morgan Hill, according to San Jose police spokesman Enrique Garcia.
The identity of the 59-year-old man has not been confirmed, a Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office representative said Thursday afternoon.
Garcia said the man was driving southbound on Monterey Road in a 1995 white Nissan Maxima at approximately 5pm. An Isuzu freight truck was stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection of Monterey Road and Live Oak Avenue, and the victim apparently did not realize the truck was stopped, plowing into the rear of the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At presstime Thursday, it was not clear whether the victim was wearing a seat belt, or whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Investigator Jincy Pace of the San Jose Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit at 277-4654. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 947-STOP.
