Don’t move the county fair south to Harvey Bear Ranch

Dear Editor,

Moving the Santa Clara County Fair to Harvey Bear Ranch County Park is not a good idea since it is not a revenue generator. As stated by Mr. Dabel in a recent article, the reason for the decline of the county fair is the paving over of agriculture land. Paving over a county park with a fair or a golf course as advocated by current County Supervisor Don Gage only diminishes the few open spaces we have left on the valley floor.

Breeding laws are a waste of time and taxpayer money

Dear Editor,

The latest crusade by the socialist left is against dog (and cat) breeding. The holier-than-thou folks who think animals have rights (the liars also think health care is a right, but I digress) are forever looking to nose into (and siphon off) private activities. They want to pile even more unnecessary rules on our overregulated, bankrupt state. Controlling others gives purpose to their pathetic lives.

This move (to “control” dog and cat breeding) is sponsored and backed by Democrat “representatives” because it is justification for more worthless state employees to lord over us. Their straw-man (propaganda) says that breeders are selling what they can and the rest are winding up at shelters at public expense.

They provide no estimates of how many of the unwanted animals come from AKC (or other pedigree) breeders, how many from unpapered breeders, and how many from people who let their pets “run wild.” They want us to pay money to the state to do this, and on top of that pay taxes on the sale of the pups.

As a dog breeder, I can assure your readers that we never recoup the costs of breeding. Our females are bred only once every two years (to keep them in optimum health). Our motive is the strengthening of the lines (breed); the pups are never unwanted. We often have waiting lists.

But we are the ones who will be affected by such trash legislation. Said bills have been rejected two straight years, but the extremists continue to re-submit them, pandering to society’s losers.

The best thing that could happen is the State’s bankruptcy. I relish the budget stalemate; let every State employee union (the lackeys of the State Democrat party) live on IOUs.

We should be recovering, not returning to Bush era policies

Dear Editor,

With poll numbers falling people are asking what Democrats should do now to win the mid-term elections this fall. What message should Democrats use to bring the attention of the voters back to remembering the Bush Era and how we got in this economic crisis in the first place.

If I were the Democrats what I would do is buy 15 minutes of time on the major networks a few days before the election and I would play Bush’s full economic crisis speech of Sept. 24, 2008. I think once the voters hear that again, and the talking head on cable start discussing it, then the election will be about whether America should continue the long hard path to recovery, or should we go back to the Bush Era and make the problem worse. Elections have consequences and if we make the wrong choice then we have to pay the price.

The end of the modern Republican party is coming

Dear Editor,

As an often confused voter, I have to wonder where the Tea Party is going and where they are coming from. I believe they came about as a reaction to over-spending in Washington when the new President acted to avert a depression. However, the previous Republican Bush administration cut taxes and spent lavishly while corruptly depleting America’s wealth, reputation, and economy, leaving the Obama administration the thankless task of cleaning up the mess. The Republican Congress backed his every move. And now the Tea Party cries foul? The difference between the two presidents is, well … black and white. The Tea Party denies racism and asserts they are only against big government spending. Really?

My father, a Korean War veteran, told us kids if we ever wanted a secure job, work for the government. He retired as a manager in the post office. One of my older brothers is a lieutenant in the San Diego Sheriff’s Office. Another older brother works for a (unnamed) government intelligence agency. I work with disabled students in the local school system. I cannot accept the Tea Party’s call for less trust in the government and more trust for industry and business. If they want less government, they should move to Somalia, where their reactionary dreams of anarchy with no government can come true. The Tea Party would be right at home in Somalia, where Social Darwinism still has a foothold. I would not be surprised if they changed the name of Somalia to the “Republic of the John Birch Society.”

Fortunately, the future of the Tea Party is Sarah Palin. This will eventually lead to the end of the modern Republican Party, which we are seeing as it splinters between moderates and fundamentalists. That is not the only good thing about Sarah Palin and the Tea Party: They taught me the valuable lesson that you do not have to live in a trailer to be white trash.
