Ajahn Chandako

American Buddhist monk Ajahn Chandako, who is the Abbott of Vimutti Monastery in Auckland, New Zealand, will lead a half-day meditation workshop at the Morgan Hill House at Villa Mira Monte, 17860 Monterey Road, 9 a.m. to noon May 22.
The workshop offers instruction and practice, with an introduction to meditation for beginners, as well as teachings for more experienced meditators. Chandako will present the basics of sitting and walking meditation, with an emphasis on the integration into daily life.
The workshop will help attendees develop mindfulness techniques for training in clear awareness of the present moment; focusing concentration; developing loving kindness and compassion; and reducing stress, anxiety and depression. People who meditate regularly recognize that it is a practical skill for learning how to live with greater balance and understanding.
Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Walking meditation will take place outside, so a hat and sunscreen are recommended.
Donations are accepted and will go to the King’s Creek Redwood Hermitage in boulder Creek.
Those who wish to join Chandako for a meal after the workshop are encouraged to bring a vegetarian dish for a potluck. The workshop is sponsored by AAUW Morgan Hill.
