Sobrato’s young ladies track and field squad does well
Morgan Hill – The Sobrato Bulldogs’ girls frosh/soph track and field team took eighth place at the 15th Annual North Salinas Frosh/Soph Invitational in Salinas on Saturday. The Lady Acorns frosh/soph squad came in 11th place. The Acorns frosh/soph boys took 13th place.
For 2006 only varsity squads were also allowed to participate at the meet. The Acorns boys varsity placed 16th, while the Bulldogs boys varsity took 17th place. The Bulldogs girls’ varsity finished in 10th place and the Lady Acorn varsity placed 13th.
Freshman Ariel Mosbrucker had a big day for the Bulldogs. Mosbrucker finished second in the triple jump (31’5″) and the high jump (4’8″) and also had a fourth place finish in the long jump (13’11”). Teammate Elizabeth Gordon finished fifth in the pole vault final with a 6′ jump and took eighth place in the long jump (12’8″). Amber Masoni came in ninth place in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:05.80.
Acorn freshman standout, Olivia Duran took fourth place in the 1600 with a time of 5:42.26. Teammate Sarah Lopez took ninth in the triple jump (27’11”).
Sophomore Mark Cedeno took first place in the long jump (18’8.5″), fourth place in the triple jump (37’2″) and 12th place in the 400 meter (58.25) for the Acorns boys frosh/soph team. Freshman Aaron Persing had a seventh place finish in the 800 meter (2:16.45) for Live Oak.
Freshman Joe Edgar finished sixth in the pole vault event (8’6″) for the Bulldogs.
For the varsity teams, Jon Hart of Live Oak placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.26) and seventh in the 300 meter hurdles (46.59). Teammate Mando Medina finished in a three-way tie for seventh place in the pole vault (10′).
Will Cambra had an eighth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (47.51) for the Bulldogs.
Live Oak senior Lisa Herrera finished sixth in the 3200 meter (12:42.93) and eighth in the 1600 (5:59.69), while Michelle Danner took fifth place in the triple jump (30’4″). Rebecca Webb finished seventh in the long jump (14’1″) and eighth place in the 400 meter (1:07.84).
For the Lady Bulldogs, Franziska Gellert placed third in the pole vault (7’6″) and fourth in the triple jump (30’4″). Alex Cervantes took fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (18.01) and the 300 meter hurdles (57.94), while Katie Alton placed fifth in the 200 meter (28.69) and eighth in the 100 meter (14.46).
