The Healthy Home Workshop
On May 18, BookSmart will be hosting the first in a series of workshops focusing on wellness. I’m very excited about this first workshop because it is centered on concepts from a book titled, “The Healthy Home.” This excellent book is a great starting point for us all to examine our homes with an eye toward identifying those products that may be impacting our health. In addition to potentially damaging the health of our own families, toxic household substances can also impact water quality and air quality when we use them.
Morgan Hill’s own Tracee Gluhaich will be leading this wellness workshop series which will continue for several months. They are scheduled for 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. For more information or to RSVP, call 778-6467 or br**@*********rt.com.
City Beautification Day
Are you someone who enjoys contributing to large efforts? Are you looking for an easy, low-commitment opportunity to improve Morgan Hill? If so, come one, come all because May 21 is City Beautification Day. This is your opportunity to beautify our town. We have an assortment of projects available from planting to trimming to picking up litter.
For individuals and families, we coordinate working groups to march along the streets cleaning up litter on sidewalks and planter areas.
For larger groups, typically organized by churches and service groups, we assign particular projects, often in a park, for the group to address. In the past, volunteers have dramatically improved the appearance of many civic areas.
So come with a group or come by yourself … but by all means do come. It begins at 9 a.m. at City Hall, 17555 Peak Ave.
Bring water, gloves, and sunscreen. We’ll be having a celebratory barbecue lunch at City Hall after the event prepared by the Morgan Hill Kiwanis.
Individuals who want to know more can call 778-6480 or en*****@************ca.gov. (Note: you don’t need to call – just feel free to show up on the 21.) Groups, however, should call to arrange for a group project as soon as possible.
So, what are you doing on the morning of May 21? Care to join us in making a difference? This is really your chance to spend a morning joining with your friends and neighbors to improve your Morgan Hill.
Anthony Eulo is a Program Administrator for the city of Morgan Hill who looks forward to enjoying the rejuvenated DSC landscape. He welcomes your questions, comments, and thoughts and can be reached at 778-6480 or en*****@***********ca.gov.
