The Santa Clara County Public Health Department is inviting all members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community living in the county to fill out a survey that will help with its newest health assessment.
The first 500 LGBT adult county residents to take the 15-20 minute survey will receive a $5 Amazon gift card. Additionally, the first 100 responders to the youth version will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card.
“This health assessment will provide critical insight into the health needs for the local LGBT community,” said President Ken Yeager of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. “We need a broad participation in this survey to ensure we hear as many voices as possible.”
Yeager called for the study in his 2013 State of the County Address.
The LGBT assessment will allow the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and its partners to document crucial LGBT health issues. When it is complete, the health data gathered can be used to strategically allocate resources, inform program development, plan services and address LGBT health concerns. Data from this survey may also enable local organizations serving the LGBT community to make a case for additional funding.
There are currently two health surveys available online. The first is designated for LGBT adults ages 18 and older. It is open until Oct. 2 and can be accessed in four different languages at:
-English
-Mandarin
-Spanish
-Vietnamese
The second assessment, which is available until midnight Oct. 23, is designated for LGBT youth, ages 13 through 17, here.
