South County residents will get a reprieve from the scorching temperatures as a gradual cool down is forecast for the rest of the week, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Drew Peterson.
While today’s high will hit 96 degrees—which is three degrees cooler from Monday’s peak temperature of 99 in Morgan Hill—the rest of the week shows the slow decline with Wednesday’s high at 92, Thursday’s at 89, Friday’s at 85 and Saturday’s down to 82 degrees.
“We are actually expecting temperatures to gradually cool today through Saturday, with Saturday being the coolest day ahead,” said Peterson, forecasting a 12-15 degree drop from now until the weekend. “We’ll have some pretty nice weather for the rest of the week.”
The City of Morgan Hill announced Cooling Center designations this week at the Centennial Recreation Center (171 W. Edmundson Ave. opened from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays), the Centennial Recreation Senior Center and the Community and Cultural Center (17000 Monterey Street opened from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays).
A high of 86 is expected for the Fourth of July, according to NWS statistics.
