Pee Wee
Playing on the road against the Menlo Atherton Vikings on Sunday, the Morgan Hill Pee Wee Raiders suffered their third consecutive loss, falling 8-0. The losses have come after the Raiders began league play with four straight victories. Their overall record now stands at 4-3 as they shoot for a playoff spot.
Menlo Atherton didn’t score until the final minutes of the game thanks to another good defensive effort for the Raiders. Blake Newquist and Alex Havstad forced fumbles to stall two Viking drives and the defense played well throughout the game.
The Raider offensive line had a strong game, but three costly fumbles sealed the fate of any scoring chances. With playoff hopes looming and two league games remaining, the offense needs to become a threat again as the regular season comes to a close.
They’ll get that chance Saturday when the Raiders play a rare home game away from Morgan Hill. The Pee Wee’s travel to Santa Clara’s Townsend field to play Cambrian at 2 p.m. Saturday.
