The awards recognize and reward outstanding student achievement as exemplified by academic performance, individual leadership, commitment to community and overall commitment to excellence.

The honored were:

  • Britton Middle School – Kenisha Wallace Johnson, daughter of Jeanie Wallace and Kenneth Johnson

  • St. Catherine School – Francesca Della Maggiore, daughter of Brenda and Nick Della Maggiore

  • Crossroads Christian School – Blair Latos, daughter of Lisa and Tony Latos

  • Oakwood Elementary School – Roxanne R. Ohayon, daughter of Shahla Hassani Ohayon and Simon Ohayon

Rotary member and School Superintendent Dr. Wes Smith presented each student with a $100 U.S. savings bond for their future education and an achievement certificate from the club. The student’s parents, relatives, teachers and principal were also recognized at the luncheon ceremony.

All 19 public and private schools within the boundaries of the Morgan Hill Unified School District each have the opportunity to annually select one outstanding student for the honor. Approximately five are announced each quarter.

The recognition program of the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill is a part of its ongoing commitment to serve the youth of the community.
