County officials have set up a series of community meetings to help in their push to designate Santa Clara County as a National Heritage Area.
“If you live in Santa Clara County, you know what a special place it is. Our history, climate, geography, culture and ingenuity weave together to tell a story that is unique to our area but of interest to the entire United States,” according to Santa Clara County Spokeswoman Laurel Anderson. “That’s why the county is pursuing a designation of National Heritage Area.”
Board of Supervisors President Dave Cortese and the National Heritage Area Task Force will work to convince the National Park Service and the U.S. Congress that Santa Clara County is deserving of that designation. To find out more and learn to get involved, county staff has set up the following meetings:
• Dec. 1, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Mountain View City Hall, 500 Castro Street, Mountain View
• Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Campbell City Hall, 70 North First Street, Campbell
• Dec. 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Hill City Hall, 171 West Edmundson Avenue, Morgan Hill.
