Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate is excited about the City Council’s priorities, goals and strategies for 2013, which are available on the City’s website.
At his annual “State of the City” address last month, the mayor projected a “darn good” year for Morgan Hill, and the list of hoped-for and upcoming accomplishments he and the Council formulated at a series of this meetings to establish the goals.
These include the “focus areas” of hiring a new city attorney to replace Danny Wan, the general plan update process that started with the first meeting of the General Plan Advisory Committee meeting last week, and priorities that include supporting youth and stimulating economic development.
The Council established the list which serves as a policy road map for the year at its annual two-day retreat in January, and two follow-up meetings in February.
Other priorities for the Council for 2013 include:
-Enhancing community engagement and diversity
-Participating in regional issues
-Improving organizational effectiveness and transparency
-Financing and advocating for infrastructure improvements
Rounding the list of focus areas for the year are:
-Pursuing revitalization of downtown without the use of redevelopment resources (which were eliminated by the state in 2012)
-Implementation of the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Conservation Plan, agricultural policies and other plans for the City’s Southeast Quadrant
-Winding down the projects and programs of the former redevelopment agency
