Dear Editor, We are having a dance concert and dessert auction
to raise money for the South Valley Ballet scholarship fund,
community outreach and our upcoming three-act ballet
“La Fille Mal Gardee.” It will be the first three act repertoire
ballet ever done in the South Valley. We have been acting as a
non-profit for 30 years as Morgan Hill Dance Company, but this year
we applied for non-profit status and changed the name to South
Valley Ballet.
Dear Editor,
We are having a dance concert and dessert auction to raise money for the South Valley Ballet scholarship fund, community outreach and our upcoming three-act ballet “La Fille Mal Gardee.” It will be the first three act repertoire ballet ever done in the South Valley. We have been acting as a non-profit for 30 years as Morgan Hill Dance Company, but this year we applied for non-profit status and changed the name to South Valley Ballet.
We thought that the new name represented us better, since we have dancers from Gilroy, Hollister, Los Banos, Aromas, Watsonville, San Jose, Morgan Hill and Salinas in our performing company. Not to mention our community outreach has extended to many of these communities.
Our Spring Dance Concert and Dessert Auction is a fundraiser for the new company and scholarships. The dessert auction takes place Saturday, April 9, 7pm at the Gilroy High School Theater, 750 W. Tenth St.
We really want the South Valley community to see SVB as its very own ballet company. The arts are just as vital to the youth of our community as the sports. The artists, musicians, and dancers put just as much love and work into their passion, yet in many ways their efforts are very underplayed in comparison. It would mean so much to them to have the community back them in the same way the sports teams are.
The dancers in this group have been accepted to some of the finest dance schools and companies in the world, while still managing school, jobs, and social obligations. They are so amazing and they deserve our sponsorship. We really need your support to make the South Valley’s first ballet company fly.
Kevin Schieb, president, South Valley Board of Directors, Morgan Hill
