“Red Phone, why are the street lights on Cochrane Road not synchronized all the way from Mission View Drive to Monterey Road? If that is not possible it certainly would be nice if the lights at the U.S. 101 northbound exit onto Cochrane Road could have the same timing as the U.S. 101 southbound exit. The traffic lights turn immediately when a car approaches the traffic lights on the 101 northbound exit onto Cochrane Road but not for 101 southbound exit onto Cochrane Road. Driving on Cochrane Road can result in stopping at each traffic light which is a waste of time and gas.”
Red Phone: Dear Wasting Time, Red Phone contacted Scott Creer, senior civil engineer, who said the city is currently working on the traffic signal synchronization/coordination plans for the Cochrane Road corridor.
“The plans will involve the coordination of the traffic signals in two segments of Cochrane Road: Monterey Road to Butterfield Boulevard and Sutter Boulevard to DePaul Drive,” Creer said. “The coordination plans should be completed and ready for implementation by early summer. However, implementation of the coordination plan was to be paid for by the city’s Redevelopment Agency which is slated to be eliminated based on the recent decision by the California Supreme Court. Given this fact, it is unclear at the present time when the coordination improvements will be implemented on Cochrane Road.”
Well, there you are good caller. Seems it may be some time before we can drive down Cochrane without hitting each and every light.
New light coming to Monterey Road
“Red Phone, what’s with all the work on Monterey Road at Spring Avenue?”
Red Phone: Dear Wondering, Red Phone contacted Scott Creer, senior civil engineer with the city, who said the work at Spring and Monterey is associated with the installation of a new traffic signal at this intersection.
“In addition to the new signal, the project involves the placement of new handicap ramps and installation raised medians on Monterey Road to help control traffic movements on either side of the intersection. The project improvements should be completed by early February.”
Well good caller, hope that answers your question.
