EDITOR: We would like to provide information in response to the
Morgan Hill Times editorial of Feb. 21 regarding facilities for the
Charter School of Morgan Hill. In the fall, the charter school did
make a request to Morgan Hill Unified to use public facilities for
its public school students as allowed for by Proposition 39.

We would like to provide information in response to the Morgan Hill Times editorial of Feb. 21 regarding facilities for the Charter School of Morgan Hill. In the fall, the charter school did make a request to Morgan Hill Unified to use public facilities for its public school students as allowed for by Proposition 39.
The Charter School of Morgan Hill has a Permanent Site Task Force, composed of community leaders, school officials and parents, which has worked for 10 months to identify all possible options for housing the school’s continued growth. Representatives from this group have met with school district officials and school board members to discuss the pros and cons of various school site options. All discussions have been in good faith and positive and cooperative in nature. These meetings have been brainstorming sessions in which all possibilities for housing charter students have been considered.
As of today, March 3, nothing has been officially proposed by the district, its board or the charter school. Both parties have willingly listened to each other’s ideas and concerns and neither organization has either demanded or rejected any idea or concern. The district’s board will discuss facilities options for the charter school at its March 10 meeting and take action on March 24.
We consider this a positive process in which Morgan Hill Unified School District and Charter School of Morgan Hill are working cooperatively to find a win-win solution for both parties.
